Meet the Cauleys!

Our Story

Mark and Heather Cauley were grade school sweethearts long before they became the heart behind Terrace View Marina. In 2016, they stepped into a new adventure as owners and operators of the marina, but their journey here started years earlier.

After retiring from the Army in 2010, Mark transitioned into the corporate world, only to quickly realize it pulled him further away from family time than he ever expected. He and Heather began dreaming about a different kind of life, one that might even include traveling the country by houseboat (seriously).

As they explored new possibilities, the idea of owning a marina began to take shape. With Heather’s love for the mountains and East Tennessee in particular, their search naturally led them here. On what was meant to be a simple exploratory trip for their 24th wedding anniversary, they found themselves (happily) a little lost, and completely taken by the beauty of Watts Bar Lake and Terrace View Marina.

They often describe it as a “God thing” that the marina was even available. And when the opportunity came together, they didn’t hesitate. The whole family jumped in—Mark, Heather, and their seven hardworking, homeschooled children, and went “all in,” opening Terrace View Marina full throttle over the July 4th weekend that same year.

Since then, it’s been a true family effort and a labor of love. From fueling boats and serving up meals in the restaurant, to welcoming guests and caring for guests in the Lodge, they’re involved in it all, together, every day.

What makes it special to them isn’t just the place, it’s the people. They genuinely love serving others and creating a space where families, friends, and travelers can slow down, connect, and make lasting memories on the water.
